Back in July, Stephanie Vaquer earned a shot at the WWE Women’s World Championship when she won a battle royal at the Evolution premium live event. Originally Vaquer was set to challenge Naomi for the title at Clash in Paris, but that match was pulled from the card after Naomi vacated the WWE Women’s World Championship after announcing her pregnancy.
A few weeks ago Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced that Stephanie Vaquer would face Iyo Sky in a match for the vacant title, and the two stars clashed at WrestlePalooza on Saturday.
Throughout the title bout Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer were evenly matched for the most part as they pushed each other to the limit. Stephanie Vaquer for the upper hand when Iyo Sky went to the top for a moonsault, and Stephanie got her legs up to block it.
Vaquer attacked Iyo’s leg then followed up with the Devil’s Kiss. She landed the SVB on Iyo Sky and Iyo shocked everyone as she kicked out. Iyo and Stephanie battled on the top rope as Iyo Sky connected with a Spanish Fly. After Iyo landed she sold a knee injury. Sky took her kneepads off then hit Vaquer with multiple knee strikes. She went for another moonsault, but Stephanie rolled out of the way and Iyo continued to sell the knee injury.
Stephanie Vaquer then went to the top and connected with the Spiral Tap to win the match. After the match Vaquer received a big ovation from the fans as she held up the title. Iyo Sky showed respect to Stephanie Vaquer and they hugged then shook hands. Stephanie went to ringside then hugged her dad and handed him the belt. He held it up as the crowd cheered then Stephanie returned to the ring and celebrated with the belt once again.
