Over the years a number of wrestlers have come and gone from WWE. It’s always exciting when you see wrestlers get called up from the NXT brand, and back in April of 2018 the Authors of Pain officially joined Monday Night Raw.

During their NXT run the Authors of Pain utilized Paul Ellering as their manager, but when they got called up they were told that Ellering would no longer be part of their act. Rezar recently spoke to Metro about his reaction to the news, and he revealed that he and Akam considered quitting immediately after getting called up.

“That was the day that we were deciding to stop with WWE. We were just called up. And the first day at the main roster, they were telling us, ‘You have to leave Paul Ellering.'”

“And me and my tag team partner Akam, Sonny, he said, ‘Yo, let’s just give our resignation letter and just leave.’ But Paul told us, ‘Try it out. I’ve helped you guys to get there, so much hard work, we can always get the back back together later.'”

After getting called up to the WWE main roster AOP went on to win the Raw Tag Team Championship. However, their run with the company came to an end in September of 2020 when Akam and Rezar were both released from their contracts. Eventually AOP returned to WWE programming in 2024 when they joined The Final Testament, but they were once again released in February of 2025.
