You never know what’s going to happen in the world of professional wrestling and Brock Lesnar shocked the world when he returned to WWE at SummerSlam last month. Prior to his return Lesnar last appeared on WWE programming when he was defeated by Cody Rhodes at the SummerSlam premium live event in August of 2023.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Brock Lesnar was actually a free agent for some time during his time away from WWE. It was noted that Lesnar has signed a new contract for limited dates for his return to the company.

The Beast Incarnate was still getting paid from his prior contract after WWE stopped using him, but his deal did expire, and Brock Lesnar was a free agent for months before he signed the new deal. WWE was not able to extend his prior deal due to injury as Lesnar wasn’t injured, and it was the company’s choice to not use him.

When Brock Lesnar returned at SummerSlam he set his sights on John Cena and the show went off the air with Lesnar delivering the F5 to the former champion. WWE has yet to confirm the match, but Lesnar is expected to face off against John Cena at WrestlePalooza later this month.

John Cena is set to make his final appearance on WWE Friday Night SmackDown this week, and it’s rumored that Brock Lesnar could be appearing on the show as well.

Stay tuned for updates.
