Kevin Owens has had a consistent presence on WWE programming for years now, but the former Universal Champion has been sidelined for several months. On the road to WrestleMania 41, Owens was working a program with Randy Orton and it seemed that Owens and The Viper were destined to clash on the Grandest Stage of Them All. However, KO had to pull out of WrestleMania 41 as he revealed that he was dealing with a career threatening neck injury.
Luckily for Kevin Owens he underwent successful neck surgery on July 18th, but at this point in time there are still a lot of questions surrounding his future. Recently Owens served as the Grand Marshal at Grand Marshal for Nascar’s Coke Zero 400 race, and he was asked about his recovery during the press conference.
“Yeah, I needed neck fusion. It was very stressful going into it because we weren’t really sure how severe the fusion was going to be, how many levels, all this stuff. Thankfully, it ended up only being one level, which is the best case scenario for something like this. The surgery was successful, I had a great doctor. The thing is now we have to see how the bones fuse and there’s no guarantee that it’s going to work. It’s how my body heals, some guys had success, some guys didn’t. Fingers crossed I get to come back to wrestling in the next year, really don’t know though. My goal is come back so hopefully that happens.”
