John Cena stepped into the ring at SummerSlam on Sunday night and he defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against the one and only Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare managed to defeat John Cena to win the championship for the second time in his career then he left the ring so Cena could enjoy a moment with the fans.
Unfortunately for John Cena his moment with the fans was interrupted by Brock Lesnar who made his first appearance on WWE programming since SummerSlam in 2023. The Beast Incarnate set his sights on John Cena as he made his way to the ring and hit the former champion with the F5.
Recently Adam Glyn caught up with John Cena and he asked the 17 time champion what was going through his mind when he saw Brock Lesnar return at SummerSlam.
“I’ve been saying the same thing for 25 years. They deal ’em, I play ’em. You know, I’m just really excited. We got like 12 of these things left. I think SummerSlam was an indication from the audience where everybody kind of knows where we’re closing our book. And just because I close my book in December, that doesn’t mean the WWE closes its books. They got to continue their programming going forward. So they’re just trying to make the most exciting shows for the fans. A dozen of them I got left. They deal ‘em, I play ‘em.”
