Solo Sikoa Defeats Jacob Fatu To Retain United States Championship At SummerSlam

The tension between Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa had been brewing for some time, and it finally boiled over at the Money in the Bank premium live event when Jacob turned on Solo. At Night of Champions Solo Sikoa managed to defeat Solo Sikoa to become the new United States Champion after JC Mateo, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga interfered.

On Sunday night Jacob Fatu got his chance to win the championship back when he challenged Solo Sikoa for the WWE United States Championship inside of a steel cage. As soon as the match kicked off the fans made it known that they were firmly behind Jacob as they chanted “Fatu” and “f*** you Solo.”

Solo controlled the match early on as he repeatedly threw Jacob into the steel cage. After a few minutes Solo tried to leave the cage, but Jacob grabbed his leg. Solo went for the Samoan Spike as Jacob blocked it and connected with a clothesline on the champion.

Jacob managed to make a comeback as he slammed Solo’s face into the cage several times. He followed up with two moonsaults off the top rope for a two count.

JC Mateo, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga ran down to ringside and surrounded the cage. Jimmy Uso’s music hit and Jimmy took out JC Mateo and Tonga Loa. However, Talla Tonga was too much for Jimmy as he overpowered Jimmy Uso and threw him over the announce table.

Jacob told the referee at ringside to close the door to the cage then Solo hit him with the Samoan Spike as soon as Jacob turned around. Solo started to climb the cage and Jacob followed him. Jacob knocked Solo off the cage then Talla Tonga climbed up to the top of the cage and handcuffed Jacob to the top of the cage.

JC Mateo opened the door as Jacob somehow managed to break the handcuffs. Jacob grabbed Solo’s leg and dragged him back into the ring. Solo tried again to leave through the door as Solo tried to hold onto him. Talla Tonga then slammed the door in Jacob’s face and Solo fell to the floor to win the match.

After the match Solo started walking up the ramp with Talla Tonga. Jimmy Uso threw JC Mateo into the cage and Solo beat down JC and Tonga Loa. He piled them on top of one another then climbed to the top of the cage. Mateo and Tonga Loa stood as Jacob took them both down with a moonsault from the top.
