Earlier this year John Cena kicked off his retirement tour and he’s been on quite the run over the last few months. Cena made history at WrestleMania 41 when he defeated Cody Rhodes to win his 17th world title, and he’s currently set to defend his championship against Cody Rhodes in a rematch at SummerSlam.
As of right now John Cena only has 15 dates left on his schedule with WWE, and there’s been a lot of speculation regarding who his final opponent will be. According to the WRKD Wrestling account current plans call for Gunther to go one on one with Cena in his last match. The Ring General recently retired another high profile name when he defeated Goldberg in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.

Earlier this month John Cena shared an update on plans for his final match and he confirmed that it will take place in mid-December when he said, “My last match will be in mid-December. We’re still trying to find a place to do it. I said 36 dates in January, we’re halfway through. And, gosh, it’s been a lot of compelling TV. And I don’t want to spoil it for anybody, but I think we’re just getting started.”
It has long been rumored that Cena’s final match could take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Boston. However, that has not been confirmed and John Cena’s comments seem to indicate that WWE has not officially locked down a location just yet.
Stay tuned for more updates on plans for John Cena’s retirement match as they become available.
