WrestleMania season is almost here as the Royal Rumble is quickly approaching. In a few weeks the show will air live from Indianapolis and everyone is wondering which WWE stars will punch their ticket to WrestleMania.

During the big Monday Night Raw premiere on Netflix earlier this week John Cena made an appearance and he cut a passionate promo. Cena talked about the possibility of him winning his 17th WWE World Championship and noted that he would need a lottery ticket like a Royal Rumble, or Elimination Chamber win in order to earn a title shot.

During a recent episode of Backstage Pass Q&A, WrestleVotes noted that John Cena was one of the frontrunners to win the Royal Rumble heading into Raw on Monday night. It’s being said that his appearance on Raw only solidified his status as a frontrunner, and he’s probably “choice 1 or 1A” as of right now.

John Cena previously won the 30 man Royal Rumble match in 2008 and 2013. If he does win the upcoming Royal Rumble in February then he will tie Steve Austin’s record with three Royal Rumble wins.

It’s been heavily rumored that WWE is looking to book Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania, so it will be interesting to see how things play out in the weeks to come.
