A few weeks ago SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis officially unveiled the new WWE Women’s United States Championship, and a tournament was announced to crown the inaugural champion.
The tournament kicked off with a series of triple threat matches with Bayley, Chelsea Green, and Michin all advancing in the tournament in recent weeks.
This week on Friday Night SmackDown the WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament continued when Tiffany Stratton, Elektra Lopez and Tiffany Stratton faced off in a triple threat match.
The match was action packed with a number of near falls. Tiffany Stratton was competing in her home state and the fans rallied behind her as they chanted “let’s go Tiffy!”
Naomi went to hit the split legged moonsault on Elektra Lopez at one point, but Candice LeRae tried to interfere. As Candice got up on the apron Naomi knocked her off then she successfully connected with the split legged moonsault on Elektra.
As Naomi went for the pin on Elektra Lopez, Tiffany Stratton hit a Swanton Bomb on Naomi and threw her out of the ring. She followed up with a Prettiest Moonsault Ever on Elektra Lopez to pick up the win.
Tiffany Stratton will now go on to face Michin in the WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament semi-finals next week on SmackDown. Bayley will also face Chelsea Green in the semi-finals next week and the winner of each match will clash in the finals at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14.
Stay tuned for updates.
