WWE released over 100 employees last week following the merger with UFC, and now it seems that talent cuts have begun. The company released a number of wrestlers today including Shelton Benjamin. Following his WWE release Shelton Benjamin took to X to thank WWE and the fans when he posted the following:
“I have been released from my wwe contract. I thank @wwe staff, talent, and of course the fans for Everything. Something ends, something new Begins. Looking forward to my next Chapter”

Shelton Benjamin first signed with WWE in 2000 and started to work in OVW before he was called up to the main roster in 2002. In the years that followed Shelton Benjamin won several titles including the WWE Tag Team Championship, Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship. However, Shelton Benjamin was released from WWE in 2010 and he went on to work for several promotions including ROH, NJPW and Pro Wrestling Noah.
In 2016 WWE announced that Shelton Benjamin would be returning, but his return was delayed until 2017 due to an injury. After returning Benjamin worked in various roles before finding success with The Hurt Business in 2020. As a member of The Hurt Business, Benjamin managed to win the Raw Tag Team Championship with Cedric Alexander. After The Hurt Business split up Benjamin wasn’t used nearly as much.
