When Triple H took over WWE creative last summer a number of former WWE stars ended up returning to the company. Fightful reported some time ago that there was talk of WWE bringing back Authors of Pain, and it looks like they may already be part of the roster.
Fightful Select is now reporting that several sources have said Authors of Pain have actually been under contract with WWE since 2022. However, that hasn’t been confirmed.
A source specifically said that the former Raw Tag Team Champions were signed, “before Vince McMahon came back, because that put a halt on all signings besides new recruits.” It was noted that AOP were included on an internal travel list back in May. PWInsider is also reporting that there’s talk WWE could be using AOP soon.
AOP first debuted with WWE in 2016 and they went on to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as well as the NXT Tag Team Championship. In 2018, Akam and Rezar were called up to the main roster where they won the Raw Tag Team Championship. It was revealed in 2020 that the former champions had been released from their contracts.
Stay tuned for more updates on AOP’s status as they become available.
