For weeks now Cody Rhodes has been waiting to get his hands on Brock Lesnar and the two stars finally clashed on Saturday night at Backlash. Cody Rhodes picked up the win over The Beast Incarnate in the main event, and at one point during the match Lesnar was busted open when he slammed his head into an exposed turnbuckle.

Fightful Select reports that the blood that was featured in the match was planned. WWE sources claimed that things went the way that they were supposed to. It was also noted that there were no plans for Brock Lesnar to squash Cody Rhodes and any rumors claiming that was the case simply weren’t true.

It was rumored that there was a stretcher job and ambulance spot planned for the match, but it’s being reported that wasn’t the case either. Fightful got to look at preparation plans for the shows over the weekend and ambulances weren’t mentioned.

Cody Rhodes is set to compete in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament tonight, but it was recently reported that Brock’s feud with Cody may not be over, so we’ll have to wait and see where The American Nightmare goes from here. Stay tuned for updates.
