WWE has a lot of up and comers on the roster and there are also a number of veterans who are currently active in the ring. Rey Mysterio has been with the company for some time, and he recently entered a new phase of his career when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He also picked up a big win over his some Dominik at WrestleMania, but it sounds like Rey thought about retiring for good just a few years ago.
Rey Mysterio recently appeared on the After The Bell podcast where he said that he thought about retiring in 2019 during his feud with former WWE star Samoa Joe. The Hall of Famer noted that after their brief match at WrestleMania 35 he, “really wanted to hang up the mask and retire.”
However, Rey also added that Dominik convinced him to stay when he said, “Dominik convinced me not to and told me to stay. I just felt like I was falling behind with all this young talent opening up a path, but I stayed and I committed to putting in the work and it’s been incredible ever since.”
One way or another it doesn’t seem like fans should expect to see Rey retire anytime soon as he recently indicated that he’s considering retiring for good in a few years when he turns 50. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
