Steve Austin is without a doubt one of the biggest professional wrestling stars of all time, but he had to put in the work to make his way to the top of the industry. Austin has put on many classic matches at WrestleMania, and his match with Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 is seen by many as a turning point for his career.
The Texas Rattlesnake recently spoke to The Wrestling Classic about what it was like to work with Bret Hart and he gave the Hall of Famer credit for helping him take his career to the next level.
“We went into [WrestleMania] 13 and we went to a room, and we knew what we needed to do and we went out to the ring and Bret said, ‘Hey,’ and he gave me the idea for something that happened in that match. So, I owe a huge part of my career to Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart.”
“I love the guy, I respect him, we wrestled all over the world and we have a mutual respect for each other. Bret Hart helped make ‘Stone Cold’ in the largest degree possible.”
We’re currently on the road to WrestleMania 39 and it’s been rumored for months now that WWE has been hoping to book Steve Austin for the big show at SoFi Stadium. Austin recently addressed the rumors about his WrestleMania status and you can get more on that here.
