We’re deep into WrestleMania season and this week WWE finally announced the first Hall of Fame inductee for the 2023 class when it was confirmed that Rey Mysterio is set to become a Hall of Famer.
PWInsider is also reporting that current plans call for Japanese wrestling legend The Great Muta to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. Muta has achieved great success throughout his career as he managed to capture the IWGP Heavyweight Championship four times along with many other titles.
Muta never competed in a WWE ring, but earlier this year WWE allowed Shinsuke Nakamura to face off against The Great Muta at a Pro Wrestling NOAH event as part of Muta’s retirement tour. It was reported that The Great Muta’s Hall of Fame induction was part of the deal put together which allowed Shinsuke to work the match.
The 2023 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on March 31st after SmackDown. Batista is another name who has been rumored for an induction this year, and Mick Foley recently revealed that he was contacted about being an inductor, but he did not mention who he could be inducting. Stay tuned for updates.
