This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured an interesting return when Colt Cabana answered Chris Jericho’s open challenge. Fightful Select reports that the dozen or so AEW talents that they spoke to were in favor of Colt Cabana being back in the fold.
It was noted that there was natural inquisition regarding the return possibly reinforcing the rumor that Cabana was taken off TV due to reasons related to CM Punk. Prior to Colt Cabana’s absence it’s being said that he was incredibly happy helping to produce matches.
Those who spoke on the subject also noted that Colt Cabana’s return seemed like it was a huge signal to WWE that CM Punk is done with AEW. WrestleVotes recently reported that Cabana’s return to AEW programming didn’t go unnoticed by WWE.
A source within WWE added that they would be shocked if Punk and Cabana ever worked together again. There’s currently no update on CM Punk’s relationship with WWE. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
