This week on AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho issued an open challenge which was answered by former ROH Tag Team Champion Colt Cabana. Fans were shocked to see Cabana as he hasn’t appeared on AEW programming in some time, and his name has also been attached to the recent controversy surrounding CM Punk.
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that bringing Colt Cabana back was Tony Khan’s idea. It’s being said that the appearance was more for the locker room than anything else.
The idea was to put Colt Cabana in a positive spotlight as he’s been ostracized for months for reasons that have nothing to do with him. Cabana has many friends in AEW so the appearance was seen as a morale booster for the locker room.
Colt Cabana is still considered to be part of the ROH roster, and his appearance on AEW Dynamite was reportedly a one off. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
