Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have faced off quite a few times since Reigns was pushed to the main event scene, and they will clash once again when The Tribal Chief defends the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against The Beast Incarnate in a last man standing match at SummerSlam.
WWE is promoting the bout at SummerSlam as the last Reigns vs. Lesnar match, and during a recent appearance on TODAY the current champion explained why he hopes it’s his last match with Brock.
“I hope it’s the last time. It hurts. It’s brutal being in the ring with Brock. He’s a big ol’ country boy and has such a great, legitimate background. He started as an amateur wrestler, all the way through the collegiate ranks, into the UFC, heavyweight champion. He’s dominated WWE for a long time. The only problem he has is Roman Reigns showed up and took over. It’s going to be great.”
When asked how he feels heading into SummerSlam, The Tribal Chief made it clear that he’s focused on picking up another victory over Brock Lesnar at the premium live event.
“I feel great. I’m on a course now to do something that no one has ever done, dominate Brock Lesnar. We’re really entering that kind of timeframe in my career where I’m really pushing myself to a different level and trying to achieve things that have never been done before. Anytime you can beat Brock Lesnar three times in a row, that’s pretty good. That’s a feather in the cap.”
SummerSlam will air live on Saturday, July 30. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
