Goldust and Cody Rhodes have been asking for years but recently Goldust has been trying to deny that it will happen.
Has Goldust honestly lost interest in this match or is he just trying to prepare for an upcoming storyline? The only way we can know for sure is to wait and see what happens.
Either way we think this match could be a potential show stealer and here are our 5 reasons why this needs to happen at WrestleMania.
5. Cody Needs This
Cody Rhodes has had a hell of run so far in WWE. He’s held the IC championship and tag titles. His most notable run with Legacy and as Dashing Cody Rhodes withstanding he needs something more. Where he seems to be lacking is a real credible feud. They tried it with Cody and Damien Sandow but it seemed to lose its luster towards the end. If Cody was to secure a win over his older brother on the grandest stage of them all it could be the feather in his cap that he really needs to establish his credibility as a main eventer for the future. WWE has had a recent run of pushing talent that is more Cody’s size recently and we tend to believe given the right feud he would shine.
4. Family Feuds Make for Great Feuds
Nothing ever makes for a more emotional feud than when it involves family members. Think about the raw emotion they can pull for their promos leading up to this match. They can harp on Goldust for being the failure of the family or really show how Cody is the golden boy of the Rhodes family. Cody could use this to dial into a more emotional aspect of his character. Think of the possibilities that can be derived from a jealousy angle that they can go with here. Goldust can hold his own on the mic and this is the perfect chance to get some raw emotional promos from Cody.
3. No Championship Needed
There doesn’t have to be a title on the line here for people to be engaged in this feud. What that does is free up the titles to help push other feuds and angles for other superstars. There are some superstars who don’t need the title in their matches for you to want to tune in (CM Punk, Chris Jericho) and there are also certain angles that don’t need it and this would be one of them. When there isn’t a title up for grabs it usually ends up in a fight for pride and respect. Those are the types of matches that WrestleMania needs especially since for the past few years the event seems to lack depth.
2. Chemistry
You know these two have spent plenty of time in wrestling rings together helping each other perfect their craft. Goldust recently showed that he can still move in the ring during his recent run as one half of the tag team champions and Cody is in his prime. WrestleMania matches are supposed to deliver and this one would not disappoint. I’m sure these two have mapped out exactly how this match would go for years now why not give them the stage to deliver.
1.The Big Fight Feel
Remember when Owen Hart and Bret Hart would feud and it always had that special aura surrounding their matches? What about at WresleMania 25 Matt and Jeff Hardy in their Extreme Rules Match? What I’m getting at is they all had that feeling where you knew you were going to be entertained. Why would Goldust and Cody be any different? Both of these men have great matches under their belts and they want nothing more than to steal the show at Mania. With the right build and the right amount of time put in, this could be one of the most anticapated matches at Wrestlemania. Emotion, aggression, and technical abilities will be on display. What better way to help build up the undercard on their biggest pay-per-view event than having this match? Make it happen WWE, make it happen.
I agree with this. Some of the best matches have been brother vs brother teammate vs teammate. Just take Bret Hart and Owen Hart. Their best matches were against each other because they are trying to prove that they are the dominate brother in the family. It’s always good to throw some on these matches out there every once in a while
