Matt Cardona introduced the world to the Internet Championship over 10 years ago, but Cardona’s run with the belt officially came to an end on Friday night.
At GCW Getlostalot on Friday Effy defeated Matt Cardona to win the title, and officially ended Cardona’s reign after 3,802 days (10 years, four months, and 27 days).
Effy’s victory not only earned him the Internet Championship, but it also cost Matt Cardona the opportunity to be added to the GCW World Championship match between Jon Moxley and Nick Gage at GCW Fight Club in October.
Cardona first introduced the title in April of 2011 during an episode of Z! True Long Island Story while he was working as Zack Ryder in WWE. A clip from the match can be seen below.
