Back in 2019 former Raw Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were looking into other options as their WWE deals were expiring, and it was rumored that they were in talks with AEW.

Ultimately they decided to sign new WWE contracts, and during an episode of Talk N Shop they explained how AJ Styles went to bat for them.

“He goes, ‘what do you think about this AEW thing, do you think it’s legit or not?’ We’re like, ‘Yeah, we think it’s legit.’ We’re talking about who is going and what is happening and he started pecking away at us because he knew he didn’t want to be by himself. That’s what I’m sad about. I wish we had him with us because I miss him so much and he misses this,” Luke Gallows said.

“AJ walked up to us after we thought we were leaving and said, ‘How much will it take for ya’ll to stay?’ We said a number, he said ‘Alright,’ and he walked away. He went to bat for us hard,” Karl Anderson added.

Unfortunately for Gallows and Anderson they were released from WWE last year, but things seem to have turned out alright for them. The duo are currently working for Impact Wrestling, but they have also been making frequent appearances on AEW programming due to the fact that they are heavily involved with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega’s current storyline.
