The Undertaker is without a doubt one of the most legendary wrestlers ever, and at one point his name was synonymous with WrestleMania due to his iconic undefeated streak.
Back in 2007 The Undertaker won the Royal Rumble, and he went on to defeat Batista to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 23.
However, former WWE star Elijah Burke recently spoke to Lucha Libre Online, and he claimed that original plans called for The Deadman to face Sylvester Terkay at the Show of Shows.
“It’s crazy because, that WrestleMania (23), the whole plan was for Sylvester Terkay and The Undertaker… and I had no problem with it. Young Elijah Burke riding the coattails of Sylvester Terkay to go against The Undertaker. They brought Sylvester Terkay in specifically because Undertaker was, and is, a huge MMA guy. Undertaker loved the physicalness, the legitness of MMA. He loved to bray that type of wherewithal and create that type of magic inside the wrestling ring.”
“Certainly standing out there at WrestleMania, had it been Sylvester Terkay and The Undertaker I wouldn’t have minded taking a big boot off the apron or a chokeslam.”
Obviously plans changed as Sylvester Terkay was released from his WWE contract in January of 2007.
Would you have rather seen Undertaker vs. Terkay at WrestleMania 23 instead of Taker vs. Batista? Sound off in the comments below.
