Everyone has a goal when they get into the wrestling business and that goal is to be World Champion. Some achieve it, some achieve it many times and some never achieve it. There are others though that achieve it for a short period of time and then can never get back up to the top of the mountain no matter how hard they try. These are the men who made it but likely won’t ever make it back to World Championship status.
This one is pretty obvious. WWE thought they had a good thing going when they made The Great Khali World Champion but it turned out to be a complete disaster. Khali had one of the worst championship reigns in the history of the WWE and it’s safe to say that they won’t repeat this same mistake again. Khali seems to hanging out backstage randomly appearing in various segments lately as opposed to coming to the ring and that has been working out great for everyone involved.
It’s a shame that Mark Henry wasn’t able to reach his full potential earlier in his WWE career as he likely would have been a multiple time World Champion. Still, his one World Championship reign was more than memorable enough to cement his legacy in the business. No one was quite sure what to think when he won the big one but he ended up carrying SmackDown on his shoulders for quite some time thanks to his title reign.
As great as his last World Championship reign was, it’s unlikely we’ll see another one before he retires. Does he deserve it? Yes. Will he get it? No. Recently Henry has been lost in the shuffle and he hasn’t even come close to picking up the same type of momentum that propelled him to the top of the WWE a few years ago.
Kane should have had multiple World Championship reigns throughout his WWE career but he’s only got two and that’s ok. The legacy of Kane’s career isn’t about World Championship reigns, it’s about being a team player and consistently putting on great matches. Kane is without a doubt one of the most valuable wrestlers on the WWE roster and he doesn’t need a belt to prove it.
He can’t have all that much time left, but the time he does have left will be spent helping to build up the next generation of WWE superstars. Kane is trying to help the future of the company at this point and a World Championship title win just doesn’t make any sense at this point.
Many people were shocked when The Miz won the big one and went on to headline WrestleMania 27 against John Cena. The only thing more shocking that his title win itself was the fact that The Miz was able to hang with the big dogs at the top of the card. The Miz did an excellent job at proving he can be a main event talent too and then for some reason WWE pulled the rug out from underneath him.
It was four years ago that The Miz became WWE Champion and he hasn’t even come close to reaching that level again since he lost the title. The Miz has been living in midcard hell for a few years now and although he’s been doing his best with the hand he’s been dealt, it seems obvious that WWE just doesn’t see him as a main event player anymore.
It’s painful to say this but it doesn’t look likely that Dolph Ziggler will ever win the big one again. Dolph Ziggler is arguably the most underrated wrestler currently on the WWE roster. He’s got looks, charisma, in ring ability and more. He’s the total package, but he’s already gone as high as he can go.
Dolph Ziggler is closing in on almost a decade with WWE and he’s done everything he possibly could to get management on his side. Although he’s been having a great run recently it doesn’t seem like management will ever fully believe in him as a main eventer.
If anyone deserves to win a World Championship one more time, it’s this man.
