11 Epic Botched Promos By 11 Epic Wrestlers

A great wrestler is nothing if he can’t cut a great promo. Sooner or later if you want to make it to the top you need to be able to deliver the goods
on the mic.

In order to make the jump from average superstar to icon you have to able to capture the hearts of millions with not only your moves but your voice as well. Some succeed at this and some don’t but some manage to excel and reach great heights thanks to their mic work.

The cold hard fact however is that no matter how good you are sooner or later you are bound to botch a promo. If you do enough of them in your career the odds that one or two will turn out horrendous are pretty high. Let’s take a look at 10 epic wrestlers who botched epic promos.

11. Scott Steiner

There’s really not much to say here. When Scott Steiner gets behind to microphone it’s gold at least 33 and 1/3% of the time.

10. Jake The Snake

Well what can you say about Jake The Snake? He gets introduced as legendary because he is legendary but tonight he is legendary for a different reason and that reason is because he is ridiculously hammered. Jake The Snake is drunk. In his drunken rant he mumbles about how he cheats, proclaims that his snake doesn’t accept losing in a match, yells at the camera man, and even manages to hit himself in his very own head. If all of that sounds great just know that it only gets better as Jake The Snake finishes his promo strong with a “DDT” chant.

9. The Undertaker

The Undertaker is known for having the most epic match at WrestleMania every year. With an undefeated streak of 21 at the same event he has definitely established himself as an icon. The Undertaker has also managed to provide some humor on the road to WrestleMania as he botches a few lines and then promotes the wrong date for WrestleMania. If nothing else this just goes to show that a good botch can happen to anyone.

8. Owen Hart

Owen Hart was gone too young but he will never be forgotten. Without a doubt he was one of the best of all time. Owen was never short on words and could deliver a promo like no one else that would strike fear into the heart of his opponents. Most of the time he managed to do hat but sooner or later the botch catches up to everybody. When it comes to this epic little botch it’s short but sweet.

7. Lex Luger

There’s nothing quite like seeing a legendary wrestler have a meltdown and that seems to be exactly what Lex Luger is having here. As he rambles on about fighting R-Truth and not getting paid it’s obvious that he’s very angry and by the end of the promo Lex Luger will tell you himself…he’s pissed.

6. Michael Cole

Michael Cole might not be an epic wrestler but he is an epic commentator. Whether you love Michael Cole or you hate him he is the voice of the WWE. He’s been around for a while and he’ll be around for a while. When you’ve been around for a while the botches are bound to add up and here 4 great ones make up a pretty entertaining compilation of some of Michael Cole’s finest moments.

5. Sycho Sid

Screwing up on live TV must suck. There’s no way around it that’s got to be embarrassing. You’ve got to feel for Sycho Sid here as he just wants another chance to get his lines right but unfortunately for him that’s just not a chance he’s going to get.

4. The Sandman

Back in the days of the original ECW The Sandman was known for his epic entrance. Sandman would enter through the crowd and by the time he got to the ring he had already managed to drink a 12 pack of beer or more. Here in this interview for NODQ.com it looks like The Sandman had been practicing his entrance a few times that night,

3. Booker T

Booker T has given us many memories in the ring but he’s supplied just as many on the mic and as a commentator. This one right here though this one is definitely a classic! We go back to the Harlem Heat days in this clip as Booker T lets Hulk Hogan know he wants the gold by telling him “Hulk Hogan we comin for you nigga!”

2. Randy Orton

Randy Orton is a multiple time WWE and World Champion but at times he has a little trouble cutting promos. Sometimes his delivery is off and sometimes his tone is off but on this episode of Monday Night Raw he seems to forget his lines completely as he asks Sheamus “what’s my line?”

1. Hulk Hogan

When Hulk Hogan made his return to WWE after WCW folded it was obvious that there would be some bad blood between Hogan and Vince McMahon that would need to be aired on TV. Here Hulk and Vince air all their dirty laundry and then some.
