Jack Swagger is one of the most talented athletes on the WWE roster. He has the size WWE wants, he has the look WWE wants and he does the power moves that WWE likes. Fans and WWE officials alike took notice of Jack Swagger’s potential the day he walked into the company. The biggest problem with Swagger so far is that he seems to get in his own way and all of his potential hasn’t been able to amount to much more than just that, potential.

Dropping The Ball

Jack Swagger has seemingly had several chances to break the glass ceiling and become a main event player but he’s dropped the ball every single time. His first World Heavyweight Championship run was lackluster due to a combination of inexperience and terrible booking. After that debacle he became somewhat of a jobber and most people thought he would never got another chance.

Swagger and Zeb then set the WWE on fire during the buildup to WrestleMania 29, but once again Swagger blew it. Swagger and Zeb had the hottest angle in the company at the time and Swagger was on the receiving end of a huge push, until he got busted to DUI. We will never know for sure at this point but, it’s not hard to believe that WWE planned on letting Jack Swagger win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29 until he got busted, but once again we’ll never know.

No One Wants To Boo A Real American

Recently the WWE has attempted to do something with Swagger that they’ve never tried before and that is make him the good guy. His recent feud with Rusev has been perfect for his patriotic character and the fans really seem to be getting behind him and Zeb. The Swagger/Colter pair worked great as heels but the truth is they actually work better as a face team because Americans naturally want to cheer for such patriotic characters.

WWE took a chance when they turned Swagger face and it seems to be paying off. Four months ago no one ever would have thought after The Real Americans split that Swagger would have a better spot on the card than Cesaro. Yet here we are and Swagger has a high profile match at SummerSlam and Cesaro is struggling to find his place once again.

The Real Test Starts Now

The real test for Jack Swagger’s career starts now. He’s managed to build up a lot of momentum thanks to his recent feud with Rusev but it’s what’s next that will determine if he can make the most out of this chance. His next feud is imperative when it comes to holding the attention of the audience. Swagger now has the experience he once lacked and has proved recently that he can be trusted with big matches.

No one knows what the future holds for Jack Swagger but as of right now it looks brighter than it has in years. The ball is once again in his court and if he wants to become a major player in WWE, it’s up to him not to drop it.
