This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown was a big one as WWE returned to Madison Square Garden in New York City. Originally WWE had plans for Liv Morgan & Toni Storm to face off against Zelina Vega & Carmella, but according to John Pollock the tag team match was pulled from the show due to time contraints.
Zelina Vega had custom ring gear made to honor her father Michael Trinidad who passed away on September 11, and prior to the show she took part in a screening of the “Never Forget: WWE Returns After 9/11” documentary with Stephanie McMahon. Vega did not appear on SmackDown, but she did share a photo of the ring gear along with a simple caption saying “nevermind.”
Carmella and Liv Morgan also seemingly reacted to their match getting cut from SmackDown when they posted the following:
It appears that fans were not happy about the match getting cut from the show as the “#GiveSDWomenAChance” hashtag was trending on Twitter. Stay tuned for updates.
