When XFL Games Will Be Played, Details On Player Salaries And More

For months now it’s been rumored that the XFL would be returning, and Vince McMahon fueled the speculation when he launched a new company in 2017 called Alpha Entertainment.

Alpha Entertainment is separate from WWE, and Vince will be using it as a means to explore other business opportunities outside of World Wrestling Entertainment, including the relaunch of the XFL.

The XFL originally launched in 2001 and ended after one season. The league was heavily criticized for many reasons, but it seems that the new XFL will be trying a different approach.

Vince McMahon announced this week that the league will return in 2020, which gives the powers that be two years to figure out how to make the league work.

He also announced that there will be 8 teams with 40 man rosters, and the season will consist of 10 games with two semifinal games and a championship game to end the season.

Now the company has released even more details regarding what’s planned for the league in the FAQ section of the XFL website, and it’s been confirmed that the intention is for XFL games to be played on Sundays. McMahon also noted in his original announcement that he hopes for the season to start end of February/early March in 2020.

It was also noted that the salary structure is still being decided, but players will be paid more to win. The following was posted in regards to pay:

“The players’ salary structure is still in development, but players will be paid to play, and paid more to win.”

Vince McMahon previously announced that players with criminal backgrounds will be excluded from the league, and the FAQ section notes that players will be drug tested.

“The XFL’s comprehensive player health and wellness policy will include drug testing.”
