Roman Reigns has been Undisputed WWE Universal Champion since WrestleMania 38 last year which has created a void in the title picture as he doesn’t regularly defend his belts.
On Monday Night Raw this week Triple H introduced the world to the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt and declared that the first champion will be crowned at Night of Champions on May 27. Ever since the announcement was made there’s been a lot of speculation regarding who the first champion could be and it looks like one top star is the leading candidate.
WrestleVotes recently spoke to GiveMeSport about WWE’s current plan for the belt and it was noted that Seth Rollins is the leading candidate to win the belt.
“With the new title, I’ve heard he’s a very strong candidate to be the first guy. No doubt about it, Seth is your leading candidate.“
Only time will tell who ends up winning it, but it’s been a while since Seth Rollins has held a major title, so he seems to be a logical choice. Stay tuned for updates.
