Hulk Hogan made an appearance on the big WWE Raw premiere on Monday, and unfortunately for Hogan everyone is talking about it for the wrong reasons as the former WWE Champion was heavily booed by the fans in attendance.
Fightful Select reports that many people in WWE weren’t happy that Hogan getting booed became such a big talking point coming out of what was viewed as an important night for the company. A number of people also noted that they brought up the possibility that Hogan might get booed during the appearance.
Hulk Hogan was said to have been “surprised and disappointed” by the reaction. However, he brushed it off backstage. While talking about the possibility of Hogan leaning into the reaction and coming out as NWO Hogan one source said, “that certainly wouldn’t have been the original plan. We’re trying to sell beer, not get a 70 year old over any way we can.” The same source stated that moving forward WWE will probably consider the context in which Hulk Hogan is used.
Originally Hogan had been set for a number of appearances due to WWE’s partnership with Real American Beer. The on-air partnership with the brand is expected to continue. One person in the company reportedly mentioned the idea of using a more modern talent, or legend to endorse the product in the future.
