After weeks of hype the mystery crate was finally opened at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Chicago and Danhausen was revealed to be the person inside.
Fightful Select is reporting that Danhausen’s deal with AEW expired on February 28 and he was always planned to be in the mystery crate ever since it showed up on Monday Night Raw. It’s being said that there were no issues when it came to him negotiating a deal with WWE.
WWE sources indicated that the plan was always to use Danhausen’s name and gimmick, although other ideas may have been pitched. The expectation among those in the company is that he will be used across a number of brands, including AAA when necessary.
In regard to the reaction Danhausen received at Elimination Chamber, one WWE source wondered why the company decided to debut him with a box after the “if it comes out of a box” joke that’s been made on Bruce Prichard podcasts. Another source said that they believe the reaction will fit well with his character.
Moving forward Danhausen is expected to be pulled from his upcoming independent dates and convention appearances. He has also had to pull his Patreon.
Ahead of WWE Raw this week Danhausen has confirmed that he’s at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. Stay tuned for updates.
