Since AEW first launched in 2019 fans have seen a number of former WWE stars sign with the company. Malakai Black was released from WWE in June of 2021 and he went on to make his debit with All Elite Wrestling in July of that same year.
Raj Giri recently reported that Malakai Black’s contract is set to expire early next year, and that AEW was working to re-sign him, but there is also major interest from outside of the company.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has been wanting him back. It was noted that Malakai Black attempted to give his notice to All Elite Wrestling when Triple H took over WWE creative. AEW could add time on to Black’s deal due to injury, but it’s being said that it wouldn’t be that long.
