Dolph Ziggler shocked the world when he won the United States Championship at Clash of Champions after he defeated Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode in a triple threat match.
Dolph recently confirmed that he will be making a big decision about his WWE future soon, and he played up the speculation last week on SmackDown Live. He showed video clips from all the big title wins throughout his career, then he left the United States Title in the ring and walked backstage.
On this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, General Manager Daniel Bryan addressed the Dolph Ziggler situation, and he said that he wishes Dolph luck, but the show must go on.
Bryan confirmed that the US Title is now vacant, and a tournament will be held to crown a new United States Champion.
Daniel Bryan started to announce details about the tournament when he announced that Baron Corbin would be taking on Bobby Roode on tonight’s show, and then he was interrupted by Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin.
Rusev and Aiden English then came out to a huge pop followed by The New Day, and the teams pitched their case for a shot at the tag team titles.
Bryan then booked a triple threat match between the three teams to determine the new number one contenders.
Stay tuned for more details regarding the US Title tournament.
