Although WWE representatives stated that there would be “zero restrictions” to the wrestlers competing in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, it seems that every other day more restrictions come out at this point. The latest victim for of these restrictions comes from wXw. The promotion is a United Kingdom based wrestling company whose initials stand for Westside Xtreme Wrestling, not to be confused with the Florida-based WXW which is operated by Afa the Wild Samoan.
wXw had a scheduled event on Friday January 28th in London, but it seems that they are having to make some last minute changes to their card. The promotion announced the following yesterday:
“We received information that Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Pete Dunne are unable to compete for wXw in London on January 28th due to WWE commitments.”
Bate and Seven have been replaced by a tag team called the London Riots, whereas Dunne has been replaced by Travis Banks at the event.
This is indeed interesting timing not only because it coincides with other restrictions being laid out by WWE to United Kingdom promotions apparently not in their favor, but the 28th is very close to the Royal Rumble in San Antonio.
Reports have been circulating that WWE might be using some United Kingdom Championship Tournament participants in the 30-man battle royal, and these three names were big attractions in said tournament. Dunne and Bate were arguably the two stand-out competitors of the the weekend-long event, and they competed in the finals against each other. Therefore, don’t be too surprised if you see some interesting names pop up in the Royal Rumble match this Sunday.
