WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament Match Four: Pete Dunne vs. Roy Johnson

The fourth contest of the night featured “bruiserweight” Pete Dunne versus Roy Johnson. Although Johnson has only been wrestling professionally for two years, he looked more than comfortable on this big stage.

McGuinness noted that the color of Dunne’s tights might very well be a nod to Daniel Bryan. Dunn quickly took control by taking Johnson to the ground by applying a couple submission moves. Johnson answered back by dancing which was answered by a stiff looking forearm to the side of the face.

Johnson showed some power by executing a vertical suplex, but the two competitors quickly moved the action to the outside of the ring where Pete used the ring steps to crash Johnson’s hand.

When the two made it back into the ring Dunne showed even more of his veteran ability as he applied several submission holds in sequential form, removing Johnson’s glove at one point so he could have even more access to his already damaged hand. Although the “bruiserweight” was applying some dastardly heel tactics the crowd seem to be totally behind these actions.

Johnson made it to the second rope and executed a flying solo tackle on Dunne. The two wrestle around for a bit more until Johnson went for another shoulder tackle which was greeted by a punch to the side of the face from Dunne.

As the crowd chanted “bruiserweight” Dunne hit Johnson with his finisher, a pump handle flatliner called ‘the bitter end’ for the win.
