WWE Title Match Canceled

This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown is set to air live from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the show will continue the build for WrestleMania.

Originally WWE was advertising Tiffany Stratton vs. Giulia for the Women’s United States Championship for SmackDown this week, but it appears that the title will no longer be on the line.

WWE has since updated their preview for the bout which now refers to the match as a “non-title showdown.” The preview reads as follows:

“Will SmackDown be Tiffy’s Time, or is it time for Giulia to reaffirm her dominance?

Women’s United States Champion Giulia is set to clash with former WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton in an explosive non-title showdown on The Road to WrestleMania.

Don’t miss all the action of SmackDown, Friday at 8 ET/7 CT on USA.”

At this point in time there’s no word on why the change was made. It’s been rumored in recent weeks that Stratton could be involved in the Women’s United States Championship picture at WrestleMania, so we’ll have to wait and see if WWE is looking to push the title match back a few weeks.

WWE is currently focusing on the following points for SmackDown this week:

– Who will Randy Orton attack next?
– The Bella Twins battle Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair
– Nick Aldis will provide update on the condition of Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre
– Jelly Roll faces Kit Wilson
– Giulia battles Tiffany Stratton
