During January 17th’s Talking Smack, Renee Young and Shane McMahon hosted the program as they invited out Jerry Lawler as their first guest. Renee broke the news that Jerry Lawler will not only be a part of the Hall of Fame red carpet ceremony on March 30th, but he will be joining the announce team during the Royal Rumble match in two weeks alongside Corey Graves and Michael Cole.
Jerry talked about how excited he is to be a part of the upcoming events and concluded his interview by plugging King Jerry Lawler’s Bar and Grill and their deep fried ribs.
Baron Corbin was the second guest on the program and he said that John Cena is dealing with the last moments of his career, and he got caught last week when he lost clean to Cena. He said it will not deviate him from his goal or motivation going into the Royal Rumble.
He said he has a plan going into the Royal Rumble and a layout. He listed Goldberg, Lesnar, Undertaker, and himself as the four mainevent names who have a possibility of winning. He said that The Undertaker has dug 29 holes, and “that’s good because the world needs ditch diggers.”
Shane warned that the lights could go down and The Dead Man could come out at any moment to which Corbin replied that would be good because he would punch Taker in the mouth.
The Lone Wolf said that Rolling Stone magazine calling him the next big WWE superstar hasn’t changed him. He said that he doesn’t care if people say that he’s no good because they bought a ticket and there’s still money in his pocket. He said that he will leave Royal Rumble as a champion [sic], he’ll go the Elimination Chamber and leave as champion, and go on to WrestleMania as champion. Corbin went on to say that’s “how it’ll be, and that’s how it is”
Corbin said that fans can show up because it gives him money. He followed it up by saying that everyone can keep their opinions because nobody really cares.
After Baron’s interview concluded and he left the set Shane McMahon and Renee Young questioned if his arrogance was justified, and Shane-O said that “even if it’s BS, you have to believe it.”
Bray came out last and he was by himself. Renee and Shane questioned why he came out alone and Bray said that he had dismissed the other members of his family for the night. He said that when brothers have a conflict that they have to settle things in a certain brutal way. He went on to say that things can’t be fixed until they explode, and once their minds are clear then they can head into to Royal Rumble.
Bray said that he’s been in several Royal Rumbles and he knows that by next week that his family will have their heads completely clear. He said that Baron Corbin doesn’t know how to win the Royal Rumble because he’s never done anything.
Wyatt said that there is no way to beat the Wyatts if they’re completely together. Bray went on to say that “we are going to win the Royal Rumble, and by we I mean me.”
