There’s been a lot of movement in the professional wrestling world over the last few years and it looks like another name could be leaving WWE sooner than later.
Bodyslam recently reported that Tommaso Ciampa’s contract with WWE is coming up and he’s planning to leave the company when the deal expires. The report noted that it’s not clear if Ciampa is simply looking to take time off, or if he’s looking to work elsewhere.
During a recent Q&A session on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp noted that he spoke to people who wanted to protect Ciampa’s privacy, but he’s heard that Bodyslam’s report was correct, or at least on track. It was also noted that Tommaso Ciampa has not been backstage recently, and Johnny Gargano is effectively a singles competitor now.
Tommaso Ciampa last appeared on the December 19th episode when he teamed with Johnny Gargano to face off against Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes.
Back in 2015, Ciampa started making appearances on NXT and it was confirmed in 2016 that he had signed a deal with WWE. Since then he’s managed to become a two time NXT Champion, one time NXT Tag Team Champion, and a two time WWE Tag Team Champion.
