WWE went on quite the signing spree prior to the coronavirus pandemic, and it’s no big secret that the company was offering talents big money to try and lock them in to long-term deals.
But times have changed, and last April WWE released a number of talents due to coronavirus related budget cuts.
Fightful Select reports that several new contracts were offered to WWE talents in 2020, but that the contracts were seen as disappointing compared to the offers that talents were getting in 2019.
It was noted that at least half a dozen superstars “shuffled their feet” or just turned down the offers outright.
Some talents are reportedly waiting on the situation to get better before signing new contracts. As we previously noted Matt Riddle signed a new multi-year contract recently after turning down WWE’s initial offer.
