As noted, Rich Swann was recently arrested and charged with Battery and False Imprisonment following an altercation with his wife.
WWE has shown in the past that the company has a zero tolerance policy for any situation involving domestic violence, and today it was announced that the former Cruiserweight Champion has been suspended indefinitely. WWE issued the following statement in response to Swann’s arrest.
“WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Rich Swann has been indefinitely suspended following his arrest.”
Rich Swann was originally scheduled to face Drew Gulak in a number one contenders match for the Cruiserweight Championship on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, but it doesn’t look like that will be happening.
Swann has been a regular on Raw and 205 Live ever since the cruiserweight division relaunched in 2016.
False Imprisonment is a third-degree felony in the state of Florida, and if Rich Swann is convicted he could face five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Swann has also been charged with Battery for which he could face penalties of up to one year in jail or 12 months probation and a $1,000 fine if convicted.
As of this writing Rich Swann is still currently incarcerated in the Alachua County Jail.
