Today is the first day of 2022, and the stars of WWE are kicking the year off in a big way at the Day 1 pay-per-view. The action got started on the kickoff show with a tag team match which saw Cesaro and Ricochet team up to face Sheamus and Ridge Holland, but unfortunately for Holland he had to be pulled from the match.
At one point Holland was flat on the apron and Ricochet did a front flip onto him, but Ricochet’s foot landed directly on Holland’s face, and then he seemingly hit Holland’s face again with his shin when he was coming down.
Ridge Holland immediately started grabbing his face as he was bleeding, and he quickly tagged out of the match then rolled out of the ring. The commentators noted that he was being checked on before it was confirmed that he had been pulled from the match and brought backstage.
Michael Cole later confirmed that Ridge Holland indeed broke his nose. Sheamus ended up winning the match when he hit Cesaro with the Brogue Kick. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
