A lot of things can happen when you’re on the road. WWE Superstars understand the perils of travel well and have been able to adapt to many situations that some less-seasoned travelers might not be able to handle. But this situation is one for the record books in many ways because it was not only irresponsible and illegal, but it also put a very good man’s life, career, and reputation on the line.
So imagine Shelton Benjamin’s surprise when he looked in the glove compartment of the rental car that he had been driving for days to discover a loaded handgun. This wasn’t something he asked for and he obviously had no idea it was there.
The former WWE Tag Team Champion tweeted out a picture of a gun with a caption saying: “Thank you Budget (LIT) for your great service of putting my reputation, freedom and quite possibly my life in jeopardy I’ve unknowingly been driving your car around the last 4 days with a F’N LOADED GUN in the Glove compartment!!”
This is an awful situation but all things considered, it could have been much worse. Thankfully, Shelty discovered this himself and not some police officer while making some kind of a traffic stop.
Randy Orton might not have much to do with Shelton Benjamin on SmackDown Live but the two former OVW stars came up together in a lot of ways and go pretty far back. Naturally, Orton had a reaction and posted without much hesitation and his reply to the situation was pretty appropriate when seeing something like this.
I’m willing to bet that not only will Shelton Benjamin start searching his rental cars a lot more carefully in the future, but he might encourage the rest of the WWE locker room to do the same from now on.
