Over the last few years there have been several WWE stars who have worked hard to establish themselves and the wrestling world has certainly taken notice of Gunther. The Ring General has taken on all comers since winning the Intercontinental Championship and earlier this year he officially became the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history.
A few months ago Gunther was feuding with Chad Gable who cut a passionate promo declaring that he was making it his goal to win the Intercontinental Championship for his daughter. However, things seem to have cooled off for Gable in regard to his title chase while Gunther has moved on to other opponents.
Dave Meltzer recently addressed Chad Gable’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that the storyline with Gable chasing the Intercontinental Championship has been dropped.
“You know Chad Gable did that big promo, guy was going to win it for his daughter. They completely dropped that, they’re not even in that direction anymore. I don’t think it’s him because there’s no follow up.”
Gunther confirmed this week on Raw that he will be giving The Miz another shot at the Intercontinental Championship, but WWE has not announced when they match will take place. As for Chad Gable it seems that he’s out of the title picture for now.
