When Adam Cole captured the Ring of Honor championship at Wrestle Kingdom 11, he became the first 3-time ROH champion and moved even higher up on the list of great wrestlers that have never been signed to WWE. However, just because he hasn’t signed a deal with WWE yet, doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future, as Dave Meltzer reports that WWE does want the 27-year-old in a “serious way.”
There will probably be much more to this story as it develops because Cole told USA Today last month that he had signed a four-month extension with ROH after he missed time due to a shoulder injury. Therefore, WWE very well might be calling him again in the Spring.
WWE certainly likes to collect former Ring of Honor champions as they have acquired Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, etc. Keep coming back to Still Real To Us as this story develops, because we’ll bring it to you as soon as anything breaks.
There are rumors going around that Mick Foley is going to be leaving the WWE picture once again which could leave the Raw General Manager position vacant after WrestleMania. Foley confirmed recently that he isn’t actually working on a written contact right now and is performing on more of a hand shake deal anyway.
Working on deals like this has gotten Vince in trouble in the past with guys like Rick Rude (among others). But seeing that there isn’t a risk of Mickles appearing on a competing live wrestling show in the same week, the risk is quite minimal in that respect. Foley has hinted that he might be leaving the position over social media in recent weeks, so it’s highly likely that we’ll see a new Raw GM sooner than later.
Erick Rowan was spotted at the WWE Performance Center recently training for his supposed return according to PWInsider. Although it is unclear whether or not he has been cleared to come back to work since his recent rotator cuff tear surgery, it would fit his assumed recuperation time-frame of 4-6 months.
With the Wyatt Family currently going through another amalgamation of sorts, fans very well might see him return at Elimination Chamber. Nothing is out of the cards when it comes to Rowan’s return because he was aligned with Bray Wyatt when he experienced this unfortunate injury. Therefore, he very well could return this Sunday to assist in The Eater of World’s projected win in the chamber match.
Of course this is all speculative at this point, but things do seem to be lining up in a rather convenient way.
