Over the weekend the annual SummerSlam premium live event took place from Ford Field in Detroit, MI and Asuka defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair in a triple threat match that lasted over twenty minutes.
The WrestleOps Twitter account has pointed out that Asuka, Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair made history on Saturday night as their match was the longest women’s match in the history of SummerSlam.
Bianca Belair picked up a major win at SummerSlam as she managed to pin Asuka to win the WWE Women’s Championship. However, her victory was short lived as Iyo Sky cashed in her Money in the Bank contract right after and pinned Belair to win the title for the first time in her career.
Even though Bianca Belair didn’t walk away with the WWE Women’s Championship she did make history at SummerSlam, so that’s got to count for something.
