Recently there’s been a lot of talk about WWE contracts expiring and it was reported recently that MVP’s deal was set to expire soon. The former United States Champion has been teasing his WWE departure recently and it seems that he’s now down with the company.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that as of 8/2 MVP’s contract with WWE has officially expired. It was also noted that Beth Phoenix’s deal with WWE has expired as well.
Even though MVP may be done with WWE it seems that he’s far from done with wrestling. Last weekend MVP made a surprise appearance at a Bloodsport event and he confronted Josh Barnett in the ring.
MVP made it clear that he’s not retired from in-ring competition when he challenged Josh Barnett to a match and said, “My contract with a company who I won’t mention right now is about to expire, and I’m not going back Josh. I’m not ready to retire yet!”
Barnett accepted the challenge and told MVP that he can come alone, or with a posse. He also seemingly teased a Hurt Business reunion when Barnett told MVP, “This is the land where The Hurt Business cashes the most checks.”
Stay tuned for more updates on MVP’s status as they become available.
