The last few weeks have been eventful to say the least as Seth Rollins was recently stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and a new champion is set to be crowned at Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend. Now another title belt has been vacated as well.
During last week’s episode of NXT it was revealed that Sol Ruca had been sidelined due to injury, so she was pulled from the NXT Women’s North American Championship match with Blake Monroe at Halloween Havoc. Zaria volunteered to step up and defend the title on behalf of Sol Ruca, and Sol agreed to let it happen. However, things didn’t go Zaria’s way at Halloween Havoc as Blake Monroe ended up walking away with the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
During this week’s episode of NXT, Ava told Sol Ruca that she spoke with a doctor who said she’s making progress, but it’s still not clear when she will be able to return to the ring. Ava then asked Sol Ruca what she wants to do with the WWE Women’s Speed Championship, and if she wanted someone to defend it for her.
Sol said that the division needs a fighting champion, so she’s going to relinquish the title. Zaria got frustrated as she asked “really?” Sol Ruca emphasized that she wants to focus on her rehab as she wants to win both of the titles back as soon as possible. She then pointed out that she never lost the belts in the first place as Zaria got upset and walked out.
Ava confirmed that a women’s Speed tournament will kick off next week on NXT.
