For years The Undertaker was undefeated at WrestleMania until Brock Lesnar finally ended Taker’s streak at WrestleMania 30. The decision to end the streak will forever be controversial to wrestling fans, and it seems that WWE offered to let another big name end the streak prior to Brock Lesnar’s match with Undertaker on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Edge recently appeared on the Impaulsive podcast where he noted that WWE discussed the idea of having him end the streak, and he also explained why he refused the offer.
“Yeah so we were gonna meet in the main event of WrestleMania 24 and I think the streak at that point was 15-0. It was kinda thrown by me, like, ‘What do you think?’ I was like, ‘Absolutely not, why would we do that? That makes zero sense to me. I’m already a made man, I’m in the main event of WrestleMania, what’s it gonna do for me?’
“Sure, it would do something, I guess but let’s save that, let’s save that for somebody who can really use that boost.”
Do you think Edge made the right call turning down the offer to end The Undertaker’s streak? Sound off in the comments below.
