WWE is constantly making changes to their broadcast teams and earlier this week it was reported that Kevin Patrick had been removed from the commentary team on Friday Night SmackDown. At the time it was not clear if Patrick would be taking on a new role with the company.
PWInsider is now reporting that Kevin Patrick has been officially released. Kevin Patrick first joined WWE in 2021 and he started doing commentary for the Monday Night Raw brand in October of 2022. Patrick was moved to SmackDown last year, but was reportedly removed because the feeling was that he just wasn’t working out in the role.
This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown will be the go home show for the Royal Rumble premium live event. With Kevin Patrick no longer doing commentary for the blue brand Michael Cole is expected to call the action on Friday night. There’s currently no word on who the permanent replacement for Patrick will be.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
