WWE Star Proud To Be Relevant Without Winning Championships

In the world of professional wrestling most in-ring competitors spend their time chasing championship gold, but not everyone can win a title belt. Sonya Deville has been with WWE for years now and she still hasn’t won a championship in the singles or tag team division.

Despite the fact that Sonya Deville isn’t in the title picture right now she still seems to get a healthy amount of TV time. Recently Deville spoke with Maria Menounos on Heal Squad and she explained why she takes pride in the fact that she can still get booked without a championship.

“As much as I want a championship, and that’s something that I will do before I am done here, I take pride in the fact that I stay booked and busy and relevant and trending without a championship, which I think there’s something to say about that, too.”

Sonya Deville went on to point out that not only does her character not win championships, but she doesn’t win matches either. She also compared her character to The Miz while explaining why she doesn’t need to pick up wins to stay on television.

“Me and Mike [The Miz] talk a lot about the similarities in our characters and our careers. If you have a character that’s strong enough to stand on its own two feet without even, my character doesn’t even win, but she doesn’t need to because she can talk her way around it or talk her way out of it. So I take pride in that as a performer. Of course you want it. It’s gonna come. The way I look at it right now, I’m like, look at me without all of that for eight years. Imagine if you did put it on me. That’s how I look at it. The sky’s the limit, and I know that I’m capable.”
