This week’s episode of SmackDown was full of twists and turns to say the least. Originally The Street Profits were supposed to challenge The Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE Tag Team Championship, but they were pulled from the match after they were attacked backstage.
In the midst of all the chaos, Johnny Gargano suggested that DIY should replace The Street Profits in the title match. The Motor City Machine Guns agreed, so Nick Aldis made the match official.
Throughout the match Gargano and Ciampa argued and at one point the shoved one another. However, it all turned out to be a swerve as Gargano hit Chris Sabin with a low blow while Ciampa distracted the referee and Gargano turned heel in the process. DIY then managed to defeat The Motor City Machine Guns to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.
Following SmackDown, Johnny Gargano took to SmackDown to make his first comments after DIY won the belts when he posted the following:
“We told you.. Whatever it takes.
2x WWE Tag Team Champions.
✌️
#DIY”
